What is bruschetta?

Bruschetta is a starter dish from Italy consisting of grilled bread rubbed with garlic and topped with olive oil and salt. Variations may include toppings of tomatoes or vegetables. A popular dish is bruschetta with tomatoes; one recipe popular outside Italy involves basil, fresh tomato, garlic and onion or mozzarella. Bruschetta is usually served as a snack or appetizer. In some countries, the prepared topping is marketed as bruschetta.

What Ingredients do I need to make this Easy Bruschetta?

  • Baguette: Sliced into 24  ( .5 ounce or 1/4 inch thick) slices. I like to use 12 oz. of Trader Joe’s ciabatta baguette or I use 12 oz. of my Weight Watchers Quick and Easy Dough recipe. You can find the recipe HERE
  • Olive oil: Brush the oil over top of each slice of bread.
  • Tomatoes: I like to use red, orange, or yellow cherry tomatoes. Diced.
  • Balsamic vinegar: for flavor. This can be found by the salad dressings or pasta at most grocery stores or HERE on Amazon.
  • Garlic cloves: minced. fresh is best.
  • Basil: fresh, for flavor
  • Salt and pepper: for flavor
  • Balsamic glaze: drizzled on top. You can find this at most grocery stores. I love Trader Joe’s Balsamic glaze. It’s my absolute favorite. You can find HERE on Amazon.

Do not use the WW nutritional calculator to calculate points. The nutritional calculator does take zero point food ingredients into consideration and will not be accurate. Personal Point values and nutritional information is estimated and calculated using the brand of ingredients listed in the recipe. PersonalPoints values may vary depending on the brand of ingredients used and depending on your customized zero point foods list. To accurately calculate the Personal Point value on a recipe you will need to enter the ingredients in the WW app recipe builder by going to the top bar in your WW App and selecting “My Foods” then when you are in my foods select “Recipes” then click “Create” in top corner, this is where you will build the recipe, give it a name, select how many servings it makes and then add all ingredients. This way every recipe you enter will give you your own personal point value for that recipe.
