What Ingredients do I need to make this Easy Healthy Spaghetti Meat Sauce?
- White onion– finely chopped
- Lean ground beef- I like to use 96% lean ground beef. You could also use ground turkey.
- Garlic cloves-minced. Fresh is best! It makes all the difference in the flavor.
- Dried oregano-flavor for sauce.
- Basil- fresh basil, chopped.
- Thyme-leaves fresh, minced.
- Parsley- fresh, chopped.
- Tomato paste-thickens the sauce.
- Crushed tomatoes-for sauce.
- Salt and pepper-to taste.
How do I make this Easy Healthy Spaghetti Meat Sauce?
This sauce can be made on the stove top in a slow cooker. You will want to first cook the meat, onions, and garlic prior to adding it to the slow cooker.
Here are the step by step directions for the stove top:
pray cooking spray in a large deep skillet pan and heat over medium heat. Add the ground beef; cook until fully cooked through and there’s no pink, about 8 minutes.
Drain excess fat, if necessary.
Add the onions and sauté until lightly golden, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another minute.
Add the tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce. Stir to combine.
Add oregano, basil, thyme and parsley. Stir into well combined. Season with the salt and pepper.
Bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat to low, and cook for at least 30 minutes.
Serve over pasta, zucchini noodles, or spaghetti squash.
Store leftovers in a container and store in the fridge for up to 5 days. To freeze: let it cool, pour to a ziplock bag, seal, and freeze for up to 3-5 months.

- 1 ( 15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- Kosher salt and pepper, to taste
