These Lightened Up Pigs in a Blanket are perfect for those busy weekday mornings, for holiday brunch, or as a mid-afternoon snack!

Flaky, buttery lightened up crescent rolls wrapped up with chicken or turkey sausages and cheese then baked to perfection. Made with just three ingredients and ready in less than 20 minutes!

Pigs in a blanket in the United States is a small hot dog or other sausage wrapped in pastry similar to a ‘sausage roll’ in the UK, it is commonly served as an appetizer in the United States

What ingredients do I need make these Lightened Up Pigs in a Blanket?

  • Reduced fat crescent rolls-8 count. I get these at my local Kroger or Walmart store.
  • Breakfast turkey or chicken sausage links- I like to use Applegate chicken and maple sausage links.
  • American cheese

How do I make these Lightened Up Pigs in a Blanket?

Preheat  oven to 375 degrees. Place parchment paper down on a baking sheet.

Cook breakfast sausage links in a skillet until cooked through.

Unroll crescent rolls and break the triangles apart along the seams.

Place one cooked turkey sausage link on the wide end of one unrolled crescent roll triangle. Add 1/2 cheese slice and roll it up starting from the wide end.

Place the sausage/crescent rolls on the prepared baking sheet spacing them 2 inches between each one.

Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serve alongside white gravy for dipping, if desired. 

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 2 months.

These look really good! About to make some now. BTW, pigs in a blanket taste nothing like a battered sausage in the UK.
