MyWW is Weight Watchers Newest Program!

ONE Program, 3 ways to live it….That’s right…WW just announced they are making changes to their Freestyle Program.

Why do the WW programs keep changing?

As any Weight Watchers member knows, every few years WW introduces a new program. This year is no different.  The new WW program is called MyWW and is set to launch in the United States, Canada, and the UK, the week of November 11th 2019.

Mindy Grossman, WW CEO, said, “We are committed to always being the best weight management program on the planet, but now we’re putting our decades of knowledge and expertise in behavioral science to work for an even greater mission. We are becoming the world’s partner in wellness. No matter what your goal is — to lose weight, eat healthier, move more, develop a positive mind-set, or all of the above — we will deliver science-based solutions that fit into people’s lives. This is just the beginning of our journey to become the world’s partner in wellness.”

Last year, WW changed their name change from Weight Watchers to WW and launched the WW rewards.  There were other aspects of WW that also changed which included new terminology.

  • Meetings are now Workshops
  • Weigh-Ins are now Wellness Check-Ins
  • Stores/Centers are now Studios
  • Receptionists are now Wellness Guides
  • Leaders are now Wellness Coaches

Overall, the reason why WW updates their program is because WW is committed to delivering science-based solutions that fit into people’s lives and wanting to become the world’s partner in wellness!

What is myWW?

This year on November 11th, WW rolled out a new program called: myWW. Basically, it is one program but there are now three plans to choose from. This new program is more personalized. This new change will allow members to choose what plan works best for them. Personally, I am so excited for this new program!

What are the Three Plans?

The three different plans are known as: green, blue and purple. WW brought back the Beyond the Scale Smartpoints program which was the WW program before Freestyle.  That is the GREEN plan. The Freestyle plan will be known as the BLUE plan. And they brought back a similar plan to Core or Simply Filling, which will be the PURPLE plan.

What makes each plan different?

  • GREEN plan (previously known as SmartPoints beyond the Scale): 100 Zero Point Foods-includes fruits and non- starchy vegetables + minimum daily points of 30 SmartPoints. Click HERE for a printable list of Zero Point Foods for the Green Plan.
  • BLUE plan (known as Freestyle): 200 Zero Point Foods-includes lean meats, fruits, vegetables, legumes, + minimum daily points of 23 SmartPoints. Click HERE for a printable list of Zero Point Foods for the Blue Plan.
  • PURPLE plan (previously known as Core or Simple Filling): 300 Zero Point Foods includes lean meats, fruits, vegetables, legumes, potatoes, and some whole grains + minimum of 16 daily SmartPoints. Click HERE for a printable list of Zero Point Foods for the Purple plan.

Be sure to update your WW app to reflect the new updates that have been made.

Here’s a simple way of looking at it:

At-A-Glance for each plan:

Zero Point Food List for the Green Plan

Zero Point Food List for the Blue Plan

Zero Point List for the Purple Plan

How will I know which plan to follow?

WW has created a simple assessment for new members to help determine the best plan for them. All members will have the option to choose the plan that best suits your lifestyle through the WW app.  You have the access to change the plan on the WW app.  They are encouraging you to stay on any plan that you select for at least two weeks before changing it to a different plan.

For me personally, I have had success with both the GREEN plan as well as the BLUE plan. It’s exciting to have the choice to pick a plan that works great for us individually.

Will Pound Dropper’s recipes have the point value for all three plans?

Yes!! It will take a bit of time updating each recipe BUT I’m committed to making this happen. Each recipe will reflect point values for all three plans. I will continue to provide the nutritional information as well for every recipe for those that count macros.

Leave a comment and let me know what plan you will be following and what you think about the new WW changes!

          Hi Deb

On every plan ( Green, Blue, or Purple) you will also have weekly points in addition to daily points. You can rollover up to 4 daily points that will be added to your weekly point to use on another day that week.

The weekly points can vary depending on your height, weight, and age.

          Hope that helps!

      Hi Dorit,

Thank you for your comment. I’ve been told that if you have the recipes in your ww app they will be available when you switch to a different plan-if you included the zero point foods they should update depending on the plan you’re on! I’m hoping that is the case..we will have to see. That will make life so much easier!

      Thanks again,

I first would like to say your website has been a lifesaver for me when it comes to weight watchers. I have did the program many times in the past and I would try to live off of lean cuisines. I have loved every recipe I have cooked from your website and I usually will cook two to three a week. My coworkers have started following the site and they do not need to lose any weight just because they see the wonderful meals I am eating for lunch. I thank you for all your hard work and your kindness to share with the rest of us. As for the changes I will not get to hear about them from the studio until Friday but from what I have read from your site I will continue to stay with the blue plan. Out of all the plans I have done in the past it seems the easiest as far as tracking and staying within my points. I have lost 51 pounds and I am 2 pounds from goal.

I’ve saved many in a separate recipe app called Copy me This and not in the WW app, so I will have to add the new point counts myself. Love your foods!

I’m going to switch plans, but need to see the official info and hopefully take the assessment. I do wish WW would include a running calorie count as well as points. Thanks for the info.

I think I’ll stick with blue. I am 69 years old and have done weight watchers off and on through the years. I really liked “points plus” about 5 years ago and did lose about 25 lbs that I kept off. Then I started again in January 2018 and lost 50 pounds since then and have just gotten to my original desired goal weight. I find that it is slow but steady and ultimately Teaches a healthy sustainable lifestyle which I need. Perhaps I would consider green after the dust settles just to see if I can lose another 10 lbs or do. But I’m really not sure as I find Freestyle to be a very livable lifestyle. Thank you!

First, I have to say that I make a “cheesecake” every week with a different flavor for my daily “sweet.” Otherwise, I don’t really crave sweet desserts if I have my daily “fix.” I have also been following WW for many years, and through many changes. (Think over 30 years!) ALL of the WW plans work if you follow the plan as written. I want to try something new, and will go with the purple plan. From experience, if I “ forget” everything I know, and read everything as a new member, I will lose weight. Since I don’t want to lose more than a few pounds, I’ll eventually add a few more daily points to maintain again. Don’t try to mix plans!!

I myself will be going with the green plan…..Smart Points worked best for me in the past, and I was really derailed with Freestyle. I just rejoined this morning and am ready to re-start my journey!!

    Hi Lindsey,
I just wanted to take a minute and let you know how much I truly appreciate your recipes, but mostly your overall dedication to helping all of us that follow you. Your recipes changed everything for me. I love that you are also so hands on. You always respond and make me feel like you really care about about any comments that come across. Thank you for what you do!! Thank you seems pretty inadequate for all the effort you put out, but I truly Mean “Thank you sooooo much!! I have been in a quandry about whether to stay with FS or change to one of the other ones. The information you provided really helps break it down. Once again you are on top of everything!! You are in a word….AMAZING!!!

I am probably staying Blue for now – I’ve lost 38 pounds since January on it. I was very successful on an older plan that was very much like the Green plan, so if I hit a plateau, I might try that one. I don’t trust myself enough to try Purple – I would mostly likely overeat the pasta!

Sticking with my tried and true blue. It’s working great for me, so why mess around? I am down 62 lbs in 8 months! By the way, love your recipes and at every workshop, I am telling a newbie to check out your website. Keep these great recipes coming! God bless you for having to reconfigure the points for all 3 plans!

I’m so grateful you will be updating all the recipes to include all three options. I know that will be a tremendous amount of work for you, but I so appreciate it and I will be going to the websites that do this. I will be using green. I lost the most weight on that plan and it is what worked for my body. Thank you so much for what you do for us.

Probably stay with blue, as I love the zero points with the Greek yogurt. I can’t imagine having to increase the points for the 2 ingredient dough. I use it every day for different recipes.

I love your website and recipes, but the quiz doesn’t show me which plan is best for me. It just takes me to a page that is selling a workout set. Seems like a bait-and-switch. Am I missing something, or did I do something wrong?

I am so happy to hear that you’ll be given point values for all 3 plans! I was thinking I’d have to do that myself, because I couldn’t stay on WW without The Pounddropper! You improve our quality of life so much. We talk about your recipes every week at our studio.
Since I’ve basically not lost any weight on Freestyle, I’m going back to the Green program. I liked the freedom but it just didn’t work for me. Maybe when I get to Maintenance… Thanks, Linds— you’re the best.

    Hey!
I just wanted to start by saying THANK YOU! Your sure has been an incredible part of my WW journey. With your easy reciepes you have given me the confidence to get back in the kitchen and start making food instead of eating such processed crap! You have such an array of food that I don’t feel deprived of anything. Without your site, I feel like I would have fumbled and probably given up because I didn’t know what to make! So, THANK YOU.

I’m sticking with blue, as this is the first time I’ve ever been success on WW, don’t want to fix what isn’t broke in my book!

Hi , thank you so much for all the info on the new plan.
I was a member of WW for years up to Jan this year.
Unfortunately in feb this year I lost my right leg due to an illness.
As I can’t get to a meeting now I was wondering if any kind person
Could work out my points for me on the green plan please.

I have been successful with the Freestyle plan, so I’m staying on Blue. I have lost 19.7 pounds in the 2 months I’ve been on it, whereas when I tried Smart Points a couple years ago, I was over points (and quitting) on day 2. Since I enjoy eggs and beans, I want to keep those as free foods.

Thanks so much for all your great recipes.

Thank you so much for your amazing website! I have lost 49.4 (so close to that 50!) pounds in the last 13 mos but it has taken me a longer time to get that last 10 pounds off! Your website has helped me cook recipes for my family that are amazing and they do not feel they are going without! I am going to try the purple plan to jumpstart my losses again a bit and see what happens. I was a bit stalled out overall on Freestyle, so anxious to see how it works! My daughter is a digital member and has lost nearly 50 pounds since June and is continuing to make progress on the blue plan so will stick with it! Thanks for all of your support to fellow WW members! You Rock!

I think I’m going to be staying with Blue, but I really like the option of changing if I decide to. I think it’s awesome that WW has given us these options. Thank you so much for making sure all of us are getting the right points for the recipes no matter what plan we use. I know it’s a lot of trouble for you and I for one really appreciates all your hard work. I don’t think I’d make it as far as I have without your amazing recipes. Thank you….thank you!!!

I just wanted to Thank you for all your wonderful recipes and to tell you that I have tried and enjoyed. so many of them. I’m been trying to lose weight for many years and the blue plan, along with your good recipes, finally helped me achieve my first goal of A 20 pound loss over the last 9 months. I am hopeful that it won’t get too confusing with 3 plans now and I’m assuming that most recipes will have to be individually adjusted to the new plans. But keep up the work you’ve been doing. I look forward to all the emails I get from you. Thank you for your hard work. .

It’s obvious to me that you spend alot of time experimenting and tweaking the recipes before you share them with us. Hi Marsha

All three plans are great. Depends on your lifestyle and what you feel works best for you. Green has the most points but less zero points items…which means you have more flexibility with the points you are given. Give that one a try and see what you think!

      You can always switch plans!
