Easy 20 Minute Ground Sesame Chicken

This Easy 20 Minute Ground Sesame Chicken is made in one pan and only takes 20 minutes to make- it’s made with lean ground chicken and a lightened up sesame sauce. It’s much healthier than any sesame chicken you’d order from a Chinese restaurant- and it’s equally delicious!

Sesame Chicken is a staple in Chinese restaurants, therefore most people who like Chinese cuisine are certainly acquainted with it. It’s one of my favorites! I was inspired by a delicious sesame chicken dish from one of my favorite local Chinese restaurants, and I decided to make a healthier version that can be made at home in less than 20 minutes.

This recipe uses lean ground chicken and a lightened-up sesame sauce—it’s much healthier than any sesame chicken you’d order from a Chinese restaurant, but it tastes just as delicious as any dish at a restaurant!

What ingredients do I need to make this Ground Sesame Chicken?

  • Small yellow onion– diced
  • Garlic-minced
  • Lean ground chicken breast– I like to use Perdue Fresh and lean ground chicken. You could substitute the ground chicken for ground turkey, if desired. The point values may vary depending on the brand you use.
  • Salt and black pepper-to taste
  • Chili paste- I use Huy Fong Chili or Garlic Chili paste. You can find this at most grocery stores by the Asian foods and sauces.
  • Low sodium soy sauce-to flavor the sauce.
  • Zero point brown sugar sweetener I use Lakanto Brown monkfruit sweetener. You can find this HERE online. Save 15% with promo code: POUND15
  • Toasted sesame oil– for flavor
  • Chicken broth-to mix with the cornstarch and adds flavor.
  • Cornstarch– to thicken the sauce.
  • Chopped scallions and sesame seeds– for garnish

What sweetener do you recommend using for the sesame sauce?

I love using Lakanto Monkfruit Sweetener when making lightened up recipes. Why? Because, being your best self means not having to sacrifice foods you love.

Lakanto makes a brown sugar replacement, without the sugar, for all your baking needs. Tastes and measures just like what grandma’s recipes call for, only now you’re not just keeping your taste buds happy- your body will think you as well. Go ahead, have two helpings of dessert. Without the side of guilt.

Why is it my favorite? Well, here are a few reasons:

  • TASTES JUST LIKE BROWN SUGAR: Contains zero net carbs and zero calories. Perfect for any recipe that calls for brown sugar.
  • 1:1 BROWN SUGAR REPLACEMENT: Lakanto Monkfruit Sweetener matches the sweetness of brown sugar, helping you fill your kitchen with a healthy cup-for-cup alternative to ordinary baking ingredients.
  • LIFESTYLE FRIENDLY: Works with ketogenic, diabetic, candida, paleo, vegan, low-sugar, non-GMO, and all-natural diets.
  • CLASSIC, GOLDEN, BROWN & POWDERED: Golden Lakanto is a raw sugar substitute, Classic is a white sugar substitute, Powdered is a powdered sugar substitute, and Brown is a brown sugar substitute.

Had some ground chicken so looked for a recipe on pound dropper and this popped up. I decided to make it because a) had all the ingredients on hand b) seems easy and quick and c) love all the flavors. What a good decision. It was easy to pull together and so so flavorful. Will definitely put it in my rotation. thanks.

Could you make this with cooked rotisserie breast and narrow it down to about 1 point?

Hi Elieen

I haven't used rotisserie chicken in this particular recipe- you can give a try and see how that works out!

Enjoy!
