What do I need to make these Hard Boiled Eggs?

Making hard boiled eggs in the instant pot is so easy!

All you need is the metal trivet (steamer basket) that came with the Instant Pot, 1-12 eggs, and 1 cup water.

How do I make these Hard Boiled Eggs in the Instant Pot?

Place a trivet/ steamer basket in the bottom of your instant pot. Add 1 cup of water to the bottom of instant pot. The water level should be just below the steamer basket.

Place eggs on trivet. You can use 1-12 eggs.

Place in a single layer. Be careful of eggs-do not stack the eggs on top of each other otherwise it can cause eggs to crack.

Close the lid on the instant pot. Be sure the steam valve is set to the sealed position.

Set the pressure to high and the timer for 4-7 minutes. ( see times below)

How long do I cook the eggs for?

You will want to set the cooking time between 4-7 minutes depending on your preference for hard boiled eggs.

  • Soft boiled: 4 minutes at high pressure, with 5 minutes natural release.
  • Medium boiled: 5 minutes at high pressure, with a 5 minute natural release.
  • Hard boiled: 6-7 minutes at high pressure, with a 5 minute natural release.

It can take 5 to 10 minutes to come to full pressure and them to start cooking. The cooking time begins once the cooker has come to pressure.

Let the pressure release naturally. It can take up to 5 minutes.

After cooking is done, let the pressure cooker sit for 5 minutes with the lid on and the steam vent sealed to allow steam to begin releasing naturally.

After 5 minutes of natural release. Turn the steam valve to venting and quick-release any pressure.

Be careful of the steam as it could burn you.

Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl combine cold water with a few ice cubes.

Carefully remove eggs from instant pot using a slotted spoon.

Place eggs into to the bowl of ice cold water.

Add additional ice cubes to the water as it starts to get warm. Continue until the eggs have cooled. (about 5 minutes)

Remove cooled eggs from ice water.

Peel and enjoy!
