These Sausage and Cheese Biscuits are made with only a few simple ingredients and easy to make. No yeast, No kneading, nothing! These can be made in about 15 minutes! A fantastic side dish to any meal!
There is nothing quite like a warm, cheesy biscuits straight from the oven. These are a perfect side dish to your favorite meal. This sausage and cheese biscuit recipe is super simple and doesn’t require yeast, kneading or rising time.
The base of these biscuits are made with the famous Two Ingredient Dough ( nonfat plain Greek yogurt and self-rising flour) but I added an egg to the dough to make them light and airy-and Simply Delicious!!
For this recipe I used Jimmy Dean fully cooked turkey crumbles. I love the fact that this susages are fully cooked and don’t require cooking or crumbling-another reason is a 3/4 cup is only 3 Freestyle smart points! You can find this next to the bacon in the refrigerated area at Walmart. If you can’t find it you can always use any brand of cooked turkey sausage and then crumble it yourself. I used 3/4 cup or about 4 oz.
In a mixing bowl, combine flour and Greek yogurt. Stir until combined.
Using a spatula stir in 1 egg and mix until all ingredients have been incorporated.
Fold in sausage crumbles and cheese.
Using a spoon, scoop dough and drop dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat steps until 12 biscuits are formed.
Cook for 15-18 minutes or until biscuits are lightly brown.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup self-rising flour ( I use Gold Medal brand)
- 3/4 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt ( I use Fage or Trader Joe’s)
- 2 eggs, divided
- 3/4 cup Jimmy Dean fully cooked turkey sausage crumbles
- 1/2 cup light cheese ( I use Trader Joe’s lite 3 cheese blend)
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 400°
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour and Greek yogurt. Stir until combined.
- Using a spatula stir in 1 whole egg and mix until all ingredients have been incorporated.
- Fold in sausage crumbles and cheese.
- Using a spoon, scoop dough and drop dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat steps until 12 biscuits are formed.
- In a small bowl, beat one whole egg with 1 Tbsp water to make egg wash. Using a basting brush, brush the tops of the biscuits with egg wash. The egg wash helps make the tops of the biscuits lightly brown.
- Cook for 15-18 minutes or until biscuits are lightly brown.

Hi Mary. I will add your email to my email list for you! Thank you
Do you think this would work with crumbled bacon?
Oh yes! Crumbled bacon would work just as well.
Lindsay, hi lovie! I’m the same lady that told you about the Sukrin gold brown sugar replacement. I use it quite a bit. Hey I gotta make these biscuits! Have you ever tried Cabot 50% less fat sharp cheddar? Girl let’s talk! It is so flavorful and it’s like 2 ozs for 4 pts I think. I was ordering from the maker of the cheese, Dakin farms directly, but have since found it at my local Hy bee. It would be great in these biscuits! Keep doing what you’re doing…love your recipes!
Uh, I meant my local Hy Vee store
I haven’t made these YET but do you think they would be good for breakfast with white gravy? Like a biscuits and gravy meal? My mind went there automatically so was just curious! Thanks!!
Just made these! So yummy. Want to make for Christmas morning. I take breakfast to another house. How would you suggest to keep these warm or best way to reheat? Thanks.
Oh that is so great to hear. So, You can reheat the in the microwave or oven. IF you do microwave them I would suggest covering them with a damp paper towel to help keep them from drying out. Thank you! Merry Christmas!
wondering if you think this would work with GF flour 1 to 1? How essential is the self rising element?
Yes. You would just add 1 tsp of baking powder and a dash of salt per 1/2 cup of the gluten free flour. Thanks
I just tried these for the first time. I wanted a little sweet flavor, so I added some Maple Extract to the dough. They turned out fantastic. Thanks for the recipe!!!
How much dough would you say we are scooping out and dropping on the sheet? Like a small cookie scooper or tablespoon maybe?
I use a small spoon to scoop them onto a baking sheet. Thank you!
Have you made any thing sweet with this dough?(like cinnamon and some sort of seeetner). Can you use any other flour? Almond or coconut? Do you know if it would be just as WW friendly?
I haven’t made it with any other kind of flour. I can be done as long as you add 1/2 tsp of baking powder and a pinch of salt. That way it will help the biscuits rise. The point value would depend on the brand of flour used. Hope that helps. Thank you
Do you know how many smart points this would be? They look delicious!
