Sheet Pan Cinnamon Sugar Breadsticks

 

These Sheet Pan Cinnamon Sugar Breadsticks are the easiest breadstick recipes you’ll ever make! These Cinnamon Sugar Breadsticks will curb your major sweet tooth and are the perfect treat to eat with pizza!!!

Makes 16 cinnamon sugar sticks

What ingredients do I need to make these Sheet Pan Cinnamon Sugar Breadsticks?

The base of these breadsticks are made with my Weight Watchers Easy Dough Recipe. You can find that recipe HERE. My Quick and Easy Dough recipe is the absolute BEST-I LOVE it even better than using the sticky Two Ingredient Dough-that consists of self rising flour and non fat plain Greek yogurt. Now, if you wanted you could use the Two Ingredient Dough for these breadsticks which would be 2 cups self rising flour mixed with 1 and 3/4 cup to 2 cups non fat plain Greek yogurt.

Breadstick Ingredients: 

  • All-purpose flour-not self-rising. I like to use Gold Medal all purpose or bread flour for this recipe. 
  • Sugar- you can use real sugar or sweetener such as Lakanto Classic Monkfruit. It’s such a small amount that the point value is the same regardless of which one you use. 
  • Instant yeast– This is the key ingredient that makes your dough rise. If the yeast doesn’t foam-it means the yeast has not fresh and you’ll need to start over using new yeast. You could use active dry yeast as a substitute for instant yeast-however if you do use active dry yeast- you’ll need to dissolve the active dry yeast in the water before mixing it into the flour mixture.
  • Salt
  • Water-lukewarm (110°F – 115°F). This is the key to ensuring the dough rises. If your dough doesn’t rise-it could be that the water was too hot and it killed the active yeast. 

Cinnamon Sugar Layer:

Icing Ingredients:

  • Light butter-room temperature. I use Land o’ light butter made with canola oil. 
  • Regular confectioners’ sugar/powder sugar or zero point powdered sugar substitute such as: Lakanto Monkfruit powdered sugar sweetener- for this particular recipe I like use regular powdered sugar vs. sugar sweetener for the icing. Why? Sweeteners that contain erythritol can have a cooling effect (a cold sensation) when not cooked. It’s like a cool minty sensation-this isn’t my favorite and therefore I choose not to use it for the icing. You can use whichever one you prefer. The point value will differ depending on what you choose to use. 
  • Skim or unsweetened almond milk- the point value is the same regardless of the one you use.

How do I make these Sheet Pan Cinnamon Sugar Breadsticks?

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.  Add lukewarm water.  

Stir and mix until dough forms. 

Using your hands knead for one minute and form a ball.

Spray a large separate bowl with non stick cooking spray. Place dough in prepared bowl.

And flip over to ensure the top of the dough has a bit of cooking spray on top of it.

Cover with plastic wrap or a clean towel for 10 minutes.

Spray a 10 X15 BAKING SHEET with non stick cooking spray.

Using a SMALL PASTRY ROLLER, roll out dough on prepared baking sheet until it’s covering the bottom of the entire sheet pan. 

Cover with towel; let rise in a warm place until almost doubled in size, about 20 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Melt butter in a small microwaveable bowl, add cinnamon and brown sugar.

Using a pasty brush on the breadsticks. 

Bake for 14-16 minutes, until the bottom is golden-brown.

Remove from the oven, and let them cool for 5 minutes. 

To make icing: Mix butter, powdered sugar and milk together. Stir until well combined. Add milk until it is the desired consistency.

Using a pizza cutter slice the dough into 1 1/2-inch wide strips, and then cut them again down the middle. Making 16 sticks. 

Drizzle the sticks with icing.
