How do I make this Zero Point Cranberry Sauce?

This sauce is so easy to make.  All you need to do is combine all the ingredients in a cooking pot over medium-high heat.

As the cranberries cook, they will start to “crack” open.

Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, for about 10-12 minutes or until it appears the sauce is thickening. Remove from heat.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. fresh cranberries
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar substitute (I use Lakanto Golden Monkfruit or Sukrin Gold)
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 tsp orange zest
  • 3/4 tsp. salt

Directions:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a sauce pan over medium-high heat.
  2. As the cranberries cook, they will start to “crack” open. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, for about 10-12 minutes or until it appears the sauce is thickening. Remove from heat.
  3. Let the sauce cool for 20 minutes and then refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Store in an airtight container.

I did mine according to the recipe and WOW, it's SO tart! Can I add more sweetener to make it more palatable? Would it change the point value?

Hi Traci

Yes, you may add more sweetener to offset the tartness. If you are using a zero point sweetener, it would not change the point value.

Thank you

Can't wait to try! Is the measurement the same if I use lite brown sugar instead of golden monkfruit? Hard to find here. I know the points will be different.

Hi Beth,

The zero point Lakanto Golden sweetener I use has a 1:1 ratio to regular sugar. So you will use the measurement for real sugar.

Thank you so much!

This was delicious, thank you!! We used it for Thanksgiving dinner and my husband and daughter liked it just as much as the Pioneer Woman recipe we've made in the past. After TG, I used this in two ways - layered with Greek yogurt in a parfait (so good) and then blended into a smoothie (even better!)

Making more tomorrow just for fun. :-)
