Easy Baked Apples

This Easy Baked Apples recipe is filled with a cinnamon streusel topping makes a favorite fall dessert! Serve warm with a dollop of low point vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of sugar free caramel sauce for a mouth watering treat!

Makes 6 ( 1/2 baked apple) servings

What Ingredients do I need to make these Easy Baked Apples?

  • Apples- cut in half. I like to use Honey Crisp apples, but any firm and sweet apple should work such as: Fuji, Ambrosia, Pink Lady. 
  • Old Fashioned rolled oats- not quick oats. I like to use Trader Joe’s Toasted Old Fashioned Rolled Oats. 
  • Zero point brown sugar sweetener- I like to use Lakanto Monkfruit Golden Sweetener.  
  • All purpose flour– you can substitute that for whole wheat, almond flour, or gluten free flour. 
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Light butter- cold and cut into pieces. You can either use the light butter such as: “Land O ‘ Lakes light butter made with canola oil or ” I can’t believe it’s not butter” found in the tub or ” I can’t believe it’s not butter” baking sticks.

What sweetener do I use?

I use LAKANTO CLASSIC MONKFUIT SWEETENER and LAKANTO GOLDEN MONKFRUIT SWEETENER in my baking recipes.

The “Classic” is a zero point white granulated sugar substitute. The “Golden” is a zero point brown sugar substitute.  

Lakanto MonkFruit Sweetener is a zero glycemic, zero calorie and all natural sugar substitute. It is by far the best tasting sugar alternative and has zero aftertaste or gritty texture like some of the sugar alternatives have.

Lakanto Monkfruit Sweetener has a 1:1 ratio to real sugar-so if you were to use a different sugar substitute you will want to use the measurement that would be equal to real sugar. If you use a different sugar alternative you’ll want to check the point value on the brand you use. They can vary in points.

What low point ice cream do I like to serve with these?

I love Halo Top vanilla bean or Enlightened vanilla Ice Cream. These ice cream brands are high in protein and lower in points than most ice cream. You can order these ice creams online or find the nearest store locations by clicking the buttons below:

How do I make these Easy Baked Apples?

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Cut the apples in half lengthwise and use a small spoon to scoop the seeds and core out.

Using the spoon, scoop out the center of the halves a little more to form a small cavity.

Place apples into a large baking dish. Set aside

In a medium bowl, stir together oats, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon.

Add 3 Tbsp light butter and work it in until crumbly, using a fork or pastry cutter.

Mix until crumbly.

Spoon the oat mixture evenly into the centers of the apples. 

Drizzle the tops of the apples with melted light butter.

The melted light butter helps keep the apples moist and tender as they bake. 

Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes. 

Uncover and bake for another 25-30 minutes or until tender. 

Serve with dollop of cool whip or low point vanilla ice cream and/or sugar free caramel sauce, if desired for additional points!

  • 1 Tbsp light butter, melted for drizzle 
  • Smucker’s sugar free caramel syrup, optional

What a yummy treat! We love apple crisp here, but the calories and WW points can be hefty. These baked apples are an excellent swap to get the same flavors with a healthier spin. I used almond flour and Lankato Monkfruit sweetener. We topped each half with lite whipped topping and a squirt of sf caramel syrup. So good!

Hi! I just happened upon your site while I was on the hunt for some WW friendly recipes... (I have found a few I cannot wait to try) When I clicked the link to the recipe builder on the WW site to see my personal points, I noticed you have unrolled oats as well as Trader Joes oven toasted old fashioned oats. Was it accidentally listed in the builder or accidentally omitted from the recipe ?
