What ingredients do I need to make these Baked or Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries?

  • Sweet potatoes-I used three small sweet potatoes. It’s best to weigh them ( using a food scale) after you peel them and cut them. THIS is the food scale that I use and love!
  • Cornstarch-coating the potatoes slices in the cornstarch will make them crispier.
  • Olive oil- the oil will help brown them while they cook.
  • Kosher salt-to taste.
  • Garlic powder- to taste.
  • Fresh or dried parsley-optional garnish

How do I make these Baked or Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries?

These can be cooked in the air fryer or in the oven. Here is the step by step directions for the air fryer:

First you will start by peeling the sweet potatoes.

Cut the sweet potatoes into thin slices-about 1/4″ x 3″. Making around 44 slices.

I recommend weighing the sweet potatoes after they have been peeled and cut using THIS food scale.

In a large mixing bowl combine a handful ice cubes and water.

Soak the slices in ice cold water for 30 minutes.

Soaking the peeled sweet potatoes in ice cold water prevents them from sticking together and makes them extra crispy!!

Drain the water. Place sweet potatoes on a paper towel.

Pat the sweet potatoes dry with a paper towel and then place in a zip top bag with cornstarch and garlic powder.

Shake until evenly coated.

Place sweet potatoes in the bottom of air fryer basket.

Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.

Cook at 390 for about 18-20 or until crispy.

Tip: skinny fries need to cook less than thicker fries.

Shake the basket of fries half way in between.

Serve with THIS Easy Skinny Ranch Dressing.

Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.

Author Notes:

  • The thinner the slices the faster they cook. If your slices are thicker, they will need to cook longer.
  • I like to peel my sweet potatoes. However, you don’t have to peel them.
