Homemade Meatballs via @pounddropper

Theses Homemade Meatball are my all time favorite-tender, juicy meatballs loaded with flavor-serve as a game day appetizer, over spaghetti, or toss in your favorite sauce on top of a roll for a complete meal!

Servings: Makes 15 meatballs

 

What ingredients do I need to make these Homemade Meatballs?

  • Lean ground beef, 99% ground turkey, or 98% ground chicken-These meatballs can be made using 96% lean ground beef, 99% ground turkey, or 98% ground chicken. 
  • Progresso Italian-style bread crumbs-you can use use plain or Italian style which has Italian seasonings inside 
  • Minced garlic-for flavor
  • Salt and pepper, for taste
  • Worcestershire sauce-for flavor
  • Large egg or 2 egg whites– used to bind the breadcrumbs and meat together

 

What kind of sauce can I serve with these meatballs?

You can make these meatballs for your classic spaghetti night dinner, toss them in buffalo sauce for a little kick, in a a homemade teriyaki sauce for a sweet meatballs, or BBQ for some sweet and savory meatballs.

Terikaki Sauce-

  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar, unpacked 
  • 1/2 Tbsp honey 
  • 1/2 tsp garlic, minced 
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/8 tsp sesame seeds

In a small saucepan combined soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, ginger, cornstarch, sesame seeds, and garlic. Bring to a boil over medium heat until sauce thickens. Remove from heat and let it sit for 5-10 minutes before coating cooked meatballs. 

  • BBQ sauce– G Hughes BBQ sugar free sauce
  • Buffalo-Toss cooked meatballs in Franks Original Hot Buffalo Sauce
  • Original– you can use for spaghetti or toss them in my Zero Point Marinara Sauce for an appetizer. Click HERE for the recipe. 

 

How do I make these meatballs?

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or baking sheet spray with non stick cooking spray. 

In a large mixing bowl, gently mix the meatball ingredients together. Roll the mixture into 1 1/2-inch meatballs and place on prepared baking sheet. 

Bake for 20-22 minutes. 

Remove from oven and let them cool for 2-3 minutes before removing from baking sheet.

Transfer to a large bowl and gently toss with your favorite sauce

or serve on a platter with disposable plastic appetizer forks-which can be found HERE. 

Serve immediately or keep warm in a slow cooker on warm or low setting until ready to eat.

BLUE/PURPLE: 5 meatballs for 3 smartpoints if using 98% ground chicken or 99% ground turkey, or 3 meatballs for 4 smartpoints if using 96% lean ground beef

    Made this last night with your zero pt marinara. Used Turkey instead of beef and just fried in a skillet. Outstandng!!!!!
