As a Weight Watchers member I have seen my fair share of Weight Watchers programs. History has shown that Weight Watchers releases a new and updated food program or plan every few years.
So, if you follow Weight Watchers, you might be wondering if there will be changes to the WW Points plan for 2025.
The answer? yes and no.
The current WW Points™Plan that was launched in 2023-2024 will not be changed entirely. Earlier this year, Weight Watchers announced there will be just a few minor changes for 2024-2025.
Why does Weight Watchers continue to make changes to their program?
Part of the reason for the company’s success is that they consistently evolve and change their diet plan as new research comes out along with feedback that they receive from their members.
What makes WW the leading weight loss program?
There are many food tracking apps such as MyfitnessPal, Healthi, or LoseIt and in order to stay competitive with these food tracking apps-Weight Watchers takes leadership and credibility in science when it comes to their competitors. Weight loss and wellness is the key competitive advantage and a key driver in building momentum and so by making changes to their program it keeps them at the top.
- Weight Watchers ranked #1 (tied) in Best Weight-Loss Diets overall, out of 40 diets evaluated by U.S. News and their expert panelists. They define healthy long-term weight loss as the likelihood of maintaining weight loss for two years or more, based on available evidence.
- Weight Watchers expert-led virtual and in-person workshops provide practical tools and behavior-change techniques.
- Weight Watchers is the number one doctor recommended weight loss program.
- Weight Watchers was ranked #5 in Best Diets Overall.
- Weight Watchers scored the highest for overall weight loss and fast weight loss, and experts say it’s a smart, effective diet, according to Health US News.
- Research suggests Weight Watchers helps lower bad LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels – both risk factors for heart disease.
- Weight Watchers scientists specialize in behavior change, behavioral economics, clinical research, nutrition, and exercise science.
- Weight Watchers is focused on innovation-digital and the consumer journey.
- Weight Watchers provides guidance, motivation, and has a strong support network with coaches and fellow group members.
What do I personally love about the Weight Watcher Program?
- It’s simplified– it’s one plan and that one plan is the same for everyone unless you are a diabetic, and those who are diabetic they have a tailored food plan for you!
- It encourage fitness activity-you earn fitness points for being active.
- There is science behind it-your daily point allowance will be determined and calculated based off gender, age, current weight, and height.
- Zero deprivation-You are given a daily and weekly point allowance! Cook your favorite meals. Go to brunch, happy hour, and parties. Just like with this current program-nothing is off-limits, and there are no restrictive rules—just balance. Simply track, live, and lose the weight you want.
- It focuses on the inside out-Joining WW is not just about eating better and moving more. Losing weight is about being in the right frame of mind. You’ll still develop skills and techniques that will help shift your mindset for weight loss success.
- Food algorithm-which is used to calculate points will stay the same-the algorithm factors in even more nutritional elements to guide you toward foods higher in unsaturated fats, fiber, and protein and lower in added sugars and saturated fats.
Not a Weight Watchers member?! How can I sign up?
- You can find a membership plan that works for you-just take a 5-minute quiz- then sign up for your membership. You can take the quiz HERE.
- Download the WW app on your smartphone-learn what foods you can eat for zero Points (like potatoes). Chat with other ww members using Connect to see who you vibe with.
- Make the most of your plan-If you signed up for extra support, you can book a 1:1 with your clinician or dietitian. Or join a Workshop–virtual or in-person–with coaches and members.
What are the new changes or updates for 2024-2025?
For those that are Weight Watcher members..you have probably seen a few new features that were made on the WW app. If not…here they are:
More app features to make life easier–
- A Recipe Analyzer by website, which means WW members can enter a website URL for a recipe and you will given an estimate of the points. YES!! This means just copy and paste the URL of any PoundDropper recipe from my website and it will calculate the point value for you! And from there you can track it into the WW app! This might be the BEST and MOST convenient feature of them all.
- A Recipe Analyzer from a Photo, which means members can snap a photo the WW app will estimate the points. Note: this feature is experimental, so there might be some mistakes.
- Nutrient Totals– the WeightWatchers app now tracks Nutrient Totals or “macronutrients,” which are the building blocks of food. Protein, Carbohydrates, and Fat. The Nutrients totals also includes sodium and fiber! YAY! This new feature is my favorite!
More affordable weight-loss med access-For WW members that qualify for a GLP-1 prescription can meet with a doctor online and receive your medication right to your door.
- You simply click CLINIC on the WW app and take a quiz to see if you qualify.
More ZeroPoint® Foods
- 350 zero point foods. ZeroPoint Foods are foods you don’t have to weigh, track, or measure on the WeightWatchers program. They’re the foundation of healthy, balanced eating. They are foods that are rich in protein and fiber, that help you stay fuller, longer.
- Weight Watchers added more Zero Point Foods to the plan-such as oats, lean meats and potatoes! Yes, that’s right…you read that correctly…lean meats such as lean chicken and turkey, oats, and potatoes!
When did these changes happen?
These new changes took effect on Tuesday, December 10th.

What if I’m diabetic? Are the Zero Point Foods the same?
Members living with diabetes have a different ZeroPoint foods list, based on guidelines from the American Diabetes Association and International Diabetes Federation. According to the American Diabetes Association, in the U.S. alone, nearly 27 million adults have been diagnosed with diabetes and there is a high correlation between obesity and Type 2 diabetes, a tailored food plan for people with diabetes, Weight Watchers will aim to better serve this population with their science-based effective and proven program.
What are the Zero Point Foods for the Diabetic Plan?
These zero point foods are lower in carbohydrates and higher in fiber or protein, making them less likely to cause spikes in blood sugar.

How can I track a Pound Dropper’s recipes in the WW app?
Every Pound Dropper recipe provides the point values. In addition, there is a direct link to the WW app and the nutritional information for every recipe. That means, if you are not a current WW member and use a different food tracking app such as MyfitnessPal, Healthi, or LoseIt you can still track my recipes using the nutritional information.
What about Pound Dropper recipes that have potatoes or lean meats and oats? Will those be updated?
Yes! I will be updating any recipes that have the new zero point foods so that the point values will reflect accurately-in the meantime…you can copy and past the recipe from my website into the URL analyzer on the app it will calculate the point value for you and you’ll be able to track that recipe in your WW app. Another option is you can click on the RED BUTTON that says CLICK FOR WW APP which is located on every Pound Dropper recipe post and that will take you directly to the WW app on your phone for you to track!
Can I print the zero point list?
Yes! You sure can. I included a printable for the zero point foods. Just simply click the print button on the “How To” section below! ( under the ⭐️ or rating)

This is awesome! Thank you for all your hard work making this list! I love your recipes!!! So easy and delicious!! Question, are the daily points allowance still 23, or has that changed since the zero points list has more on it now? Thank you!!
