This Easy Teriyaki Chicken can be made using skinless, boneless chicken thighs, breasts or tenders.  I absolute love making it using chicken thighs which are more tender and moist in comparison to the breast or tender. The chicken thigh is the darker meat, which means that it is tenderer and more flavorful than the chicken breast.

A 3 ounces of skinless thigh meat is around 170 calories, 12.8 grams of fat, no carbs and 22 grams of protein. Both chicken thighs and breasts are great sources of lean protein. However, they can differ in the amount of calories, fat and saturated fat. A 3 ounce skinless, chicken breast is around 140 calories, 3 grams of fat, no carbs, and just 1 gram of saturated fat.

For these Easy Teriyaki you will:

Combine, chicken, sesame seeds, minced garlic, and Teriyaki sauce into a large Tupperware container. Stir and coat all the chicken pieces with marinade. Cover or place a lid on the Tupperware and chill in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours to allow the chicken to marinate.

I use G Hughes sugar free Teriyaki marinade for this easy teriyaki chicken. You can find it on Amazon here or at your local grocery store.

If you are unable to find it at your local grocery store, you could substitute it for any other sugar free teriyaki marinade that is available to you.

Place marinated chicken onto a BBQ grill (outdoor grill or cast iron grill skillet pan) pour remaining sauce over the top of the chicken and

cook on medium high until chicken is no longer pink. About 7-8 minutes on each side.

Serve with your favorite veggie, over cauliflower rice, brown or white rice.

Ingredients:

  • 16 oz. or four (4oz.) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or thin chicken breasts, raw
  • 1 cup G. Hughes Sugar Free Teriyaki Marinade
  • 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp roasted white sesame seeds
  • 2 green onion, chopped for garnish

Directions:

  1. In a large Tupperware combine, chicken, sesame seeds, mined garlic, and Teriyaki sauce. Stir and coat all the chicken pieces with sauce. Cover or place a lid on The Tupperware and chill in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours to allow the chicken to marinate.
  2. Place marinated chicken onto a BBQ grill (outdoor grill or cast iron grill skillet pan) pour remaining sauce over the top of the chicken and cook on medium high until chicken is no longer pink. About 7-8 minutes on each side.
  3. Serve with your favorite veggie, over cauliflower rice, brown or white rice. (for additional points)

Notes

  1. In order to calculate the freestyle smart points on a recipe you have to enter the ingredients in manually (by ingredient) not by the nutritional information in the ww recipe builder-since this recipe contains zero point items the app doesn’t realize there is zero point items in the recipe and will calculate it based only off the nutritional info which is not accurate.
  2. Nutritional Information is for a 4 oz. chicken thigh serving.

I can’t wait to make this! How many chicken breasts should I use to make this? I know it said 12 thighs, but how many breasts?

      Hi Rebecca,

Depending on the size chicken breasts it would make between 8-10 or 15-18 chicken tenders.

      Thanks so much! Enjoy!

I understand about the 4 oz of the chicken thighs – the way it states serving is 4 (4oz) is what is confusing me…..sorry

Sorry for the confusion. The entire recipe makes 4 servings. Each serving is 4oz.

      Hope that helps!

      Thanks so much

I used your recipe and experimented by putting half in my air fryer and half in a griddle pan. It came out better in the air fryer because the same amount of time the thigh was pink inside from the griddle pan but the air fryer was perfect. 22-25 minutes at 360 and 5 minutes more at 400. Perfectly crisp and so terrific. Thank you for introducing me to the G.Hughes S.F teriyaki marinade. Janet
